President Donald Trump is skipping this year’s Super Bowl, and he’s not being shy about why.
In a candid Oval Office interview with the New York Post, Trump confirmed he won’t be attending the big game, citing both the long travel distance to California and what he calls a politically charged lineup of performers. At the center of Trump’s criticism? Puerto Rican pop star Bad Bunny and rock band Green Day- both outspoken critics of Trump and his policies.
“I’m anti-them. I think it’s a terrible choice,” Trump said. “All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”
Trump said that while he would normally consider attending, this year’s Super Bowl is simply “too far away.” Still, he noted that he’s always had a strong presence at the NFL’s biggest night.

“I would. I’ve [gotten] great hands [at] the Super Bowl. They like me,” he added. “I would go if, you know, it was a little bit shorter.”
The former president made history last year as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl while in office, when he showed up in New Orleans to watch the Eagles defeat the Chiefs 40-22.
This year’s halftime show is set to feature Bad Bunny — a move Trump has already called “absolutely ridiculous.” Conservative host Greg Kelly brought it up in an October phone interview with Trump, asking if it was time to consider “blowing off the NFL.”
It wasn’t bad enough that the NFL picked an anti-American performer nobody heard about for their halftime show.
Now they picked “Green Day” a washed up band that literally bashes America and Trump at every concert, to open the Super Bowl.

“I never heard of him. I don’t know who he is,” Trump responded. “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy… I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Ocasio, has openly slammed ICE agents and said he wouldn’t perform in the U.S. over immigration enforcement. In an expletive-filled video posted to Instagram, the artist called ICE officers “motherf***ers” and “sons of b****es,” expressing concerns that federal agents might be waiting outside his concerts.
“There was the issue of — like, f***ing ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about,” Ocasio said in a separate interview.
Adding fuel to the fire, social media lit up with criticism over the NFL’s decision to choose an artist who performs exclusively in Spanish. Bad Bunny’s response? Learn the language.

Green Day, also performing during the Super Bowl’s opening ceremonies, has made no secret of their disdain for Trump-era politics either, often using their platform to bash conservative values.
For Trump, it all adds up to one thing: another example of America’s cultural institutions turning a celebration of sports into a stage for far-left political messaging.
And this year, he’s not playing along.
