PD Find Drugs Hidden In Plushie

Folks, here’s a story straight out of a Texas crime thriller! Authorities in the Lone Star State recently made a bizarre and shocking discovery during a routine traffic stop—drugs stuffed inside plush toys of none other than the beloved Buc-ee’s beaver, an iconic mascot known to Texans far and wide.

It all went down in Fayette County just after 1 a.m. on July 31 when a sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle for a standard check. Things took an unexpected turn when the driver, 47-year-old Lugene Davis Jr. of San Antonio, consented to a vehicle search. What the deputy found inside the car is something you’d expect to see in a movie, not in real life.

As the deputy searched the vehicle, he detected the unmistakable odor of marijuana coming from the back seat. There, among the usual clutter, were several Buc-ee’s beaver plush toys—seemingly innocent, right? But a closer look revealed that these stuffed animals had been tampered with. They were re-stitched, and upon further inspection, packages of marijuana and ecstasy were found hidden inside.

In total, the marijuana weighed over two pounds, an amount that, in Texas, carries serious legal consequences. Possession of this much marijuana is a felony, punishable by up to two years in jail and a hefty fine of up to $10,000.

But the drama didn’t end there. After the drugs were uncovered, Davis claimed to be experiencing chest pains, prompting authorities to call for EMS. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the law was quick to catch up. The drugs were seized, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

This wild discovery is a reminder that sometimes the most innocent-looking objects can hide the most unexpected secrets. Who would’ve thought that Buc-ee’s beloved beaver mascot could become an unwitting accomplice in a drug smuggling operation?
