Judge Holds ICE Agent In Contempt

In Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent Brian Sullivan detained Wilson Martell-Lebron, a Dominican Republic defendant suspected of being in the United States illegally, as he left court.

The arrest disrupted Martell-Lebron’s trial for falsifying a driver’s license application. Judge Mark Summerville held Sullivan in contempt and dismissed the charge, citing violations of Martell-Lebron’s due process and fair trial rights by hindering his ability to confront witnesses.

“It’s a case of violating a defendant’s right to present at trial and confront witnesses against him,” Judge Mark Summerville said from the bench. “It couldn’t be more serious.”

“It’s reprehensible,” Ryan Sullivan, one of Martell-Lebron’s lawyers said. “Law enforcement agents have a job to see justice is done. Prosecutors have a job to see justice is done. There is no greater injustice in my mind than the government arresting someone, without identifying themselves, and preventing them from exercising their constitutionally guaranteed right to a jury trial.”

The contempt charge against Sullivan has been referred to the Suffolk County District Attorney for review.

So not only do we have a Massaschuttes Judge holding an ICE Agent in contempt for doing his job you also have Democrat Congressman Jamie Raskin demanding that violent “so-called gangbangers” be returned to the United States.

“I call on my colleagues right now to call off their campaign to impeach federal judges for doing their job,” Raskin said during a House hearing. “I call on them to demand that the Trump administration comply with all judicial orders while appealing whichever ones they want to appeal.”
