They say the show must go on and that is just what happened when country singer Carrie Underwood was set to perform at Monday’s inauguration.
The issue occurred when President Trump spoke after he was sworn in, per The Hill.
Underwood walked into the Capitol Rotunda with a microphone.
Underwood was ready to sing “God Bless America” when the music started but was followed by a prolonged moment of silence.
Finally, after the awkward silence, Underwood said, “OK, if you know the words, help me out here.”
Underwood then began singing a capella and was joined by members of the audience.
I mean…let’s just have one more conversation about what freaking class act @carrieunderwood was today. Not only did she wing it flawlessly, she invited the crowd, and she didn’t run away with the song or add anything crazy. It was a group project and she sounded like an angel pic.twitter.com/TPY9Oi8qVK
