Elon’s Mother Comments On Her Son’s Decision

In a revealing interview on “The Bottom Line” with FOX Business, Maye Musk, the mother of tech giant Elon Musk, opened up about her transition from the Democratic to the Republican Party and the sense of relief that followed. Once an automatic supporter of the Democratic Party, Maye’s shift in political alignment reflects a significant personal journey and a broader disillusionment with narratives she once took as fact.

Maye explained why she was a supporter of Democrats especially when she first became a U.S. citizen. “Of course, I was Democratic because they give you that option and because they’re the good kind people who care about America,” she explained, referencing mainstream sources like CNN, MSNBC, and The New York Times, which she previously relied on for news. These sources frequently painted Republicans negatively—a view that she, for a long time, didn’t question. However, as the media began to target her son Elon, the blinders came off.

Seeing the media cast Elon in an unflattering light became a turning point. “They’d say Elon is terrible, and I was thinking, why are they lying about Elon?” she said. “I just felt such a relief that I’m not part of the party that’s now malicious and dishonest.” This sentiment was not solely based on her personal defense of Elon but on a broader discontent with what she perceived as a bias against Republicans and conservative voices.

It also seem what took place after Elon purchased that Twitter had an effect on her.

Her concern for Elon’s safety is also a concern of hers, especially as his influence grows and his views become more associated with figures like former President Trump. Owning and rebranding Twitter (now X) in 2023, Elon transformed the platform into a place where free speech could flourish, as long as it adheres to legal standards. His support for Trump, as Maye noted, has only drawn more media scrutiny. Some outlets have even accused him of turning X into a “pro-Trump echo chamber,” further fueling the public’s polarized perceptions of the tech entrepreneur.

But Maye remains unshaken in her support for Elon, both as a mother and as someone familiar with his operational methods. She’s seen firsthand how he conducts business—whether it’s Tesla, SpaceX, or his recent acquisition of X—by sitting in on SpaceX meetings and watching the enthusiastic, collaborative environment he fosters among engineers. This ability to listen, encourage, and inspire change, she suggested, is what drives his companies forward and is a skill that could, in her opinion, serve him well if he were to tackle government inefficiency. In fact, she even believes he could surpass his goal of cutting $2 trillion in government waste, expressing confidence that Elon was “just being modest.”
