Gisele Bündchen, 43-year-old former supermodel and NFL star Tom Brady’s ex-wife, recently gave an insight into her life following their divorce.
Bündchen spoke to People magazine about her experiences, including her “twists and turns” since splitting, her “self-care” strategies, and raising her three children with Brady (son Benjamin, 13, daughter Vivian, 10, and Brady’s son Jack, 16).
“It’s been very tough on my family,” Bündchen told the magazine. “It’s been a lot—in every area of my life.”
The ex-supermodel has become devoted to meditation and exercise to stay in shape; she has also cut out alcohol from her diet since reaching the age of 40, claiming it has made her feel “clear,” “sharp,” and “present.”
Bündchen also dismissed self-care as “selfish” and advised mothers not to overlook the importance of looking after themselves.
“When you feel good, you’re a better mom, you’re a better friend, you’re calmer, you’re more patient, you’re more loving, you’re more grounded. So you can’t feel guilty about prioritizing yourself. Because that’s loving you and loving the people you love the most, which will be impacted by how well you are. Because if you’re sick, everyone’s hurts.”
Bündchen stated that the measure of success for her is having “raised children who have the right values.” She expressed her pride in seeing her children flourish into their own beings with strong principles and values.
