McDonald’s is reigniting excitement across the U.S. by bringing back a long-missed breakfast item—bagels. Originally introduced in late 2019, these bagel sandwiches were taken off the menu in spring 2020, a move made to simplify operations during the pandemic. Fans, however, weren’t ready to say goodbye. For the past four years, social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook have been flooded with calls for the bagels’ return, with a 25,000-member Facebook group titled *Where’s my McDonald’s Bagel?* leading the charge.
It seems their persistence paid off. McDonald’s has confirmed that the beloved bagels are back, although they haven’t yet made a nationwide comeback. According to reports from the Facebook group, the breakfast sandwiches have already been spotted in at least 1,700 of McDonald’s 14,000 U.S. locations, and the list keeps growing daily. Fans from states like California, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, and North Carolina have already celebrated the return of these breakfast staples.
These bagels come in four varieties, each featuring the essential duo of egg and cheese. Three include a choice of bacon, sausage, or steak—while the steak version offers an extra touch with grilled onions. Prices for these fan-favorite items vary slightly by region, with the bacon and sausage bagels priced around $4.69 and the steak option a bit pricier at $5.39.
Interestingly, some fans believe that their passionate advocacy played a significant role in McDonald’s decision to bring the bagels back. Jared Hefenfinger, an administrator of the “Where’s my McDonald’s Bagel?” Facebook group, has been actively encouraging members to contact local franchisees, even sharing details on where bagels might appear next based on the group’s growing membership. In some cases, franchisees admitted they’ve received more calls about bagels in recent weeks than they have in years.
While McDonald’s has not confirmed whether this online advocacy directly influenced the decision, it’s clear that the company is listening to its customers. In a statement, McDonald’s expressed appreciation for their fans’ passion for breakfast, emphasizing that while bagels are currently a regional offering, the company is always mindful of customer feedback when considering menu changes.
Adding to the breakfast buzz, McDonald’s also announced plans to offer fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts nationwide by the end of 2026, further signaling that the fast-food giant is ready to tap into the breakfast market in an even bigger way.
Fans are thrilled, with many taking to social media to celebrate the bagels’ return. One user on X (formerly Twitter) jubilantly declared, “McDonald’s bagels are back… the world is healing,” while another tweeted, “Taking my official victory lap in my 4-year war against McDonald’s. Bagels are BACK.”
For now, the bagels’ return is another reminder that when McDonald’s fans speak, the fast-food giant listens—and this time, it’s with a breakfast twist that many have craved for years.
