In heartbreaking news, the family of Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock’s longtime partner, Bryan Randall, has revealed that he passed away on August 5 at 57. Randall had been suffering from ALS since he was diagnosed three years ago.

Bullock’s sister Gesine Bullock-Prado took to Instagram to honor her sister and Randall in a heartfelt tribute. “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon,” she began.

She then praised her sister for the fantastic care she provided for him throughout the battle with his illness, saying: “ALS is a cruel disease, but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home.” She concluded the post by asking people to donate to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital in Randall’s name.

The couple’s relationship began in 2015 after Randall photographed Bullock’s son Louis’ birthday. Randall was a model-turned-photographer, and the pair were photographed together affectionately as recently as July this year. Randall’s family included Bullock’s two adopted children, Louis and Laila, and his older daughter Skylar from a previous relationship.

In a statement on Monday, Randall’s family noted: “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.”

While there is no cure for ALS, people suffering from the condition are estimated to live between two and five years once the symptoms begin. ALS is sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease after the US baseball player was diagnosed at 36 in 1939. Bullock had previously been in relationships with several celebrities, including Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

The loss of Randall is tragic, and our hearts go out to the family and friends of Randall and the entire Bullock family during this difficult time. We may no longer be with Randall, but we hope the comfort of loved ones and the memories of their time together can help provide some solace in the days and weeks to come.
