Dunkin’ is rolling out a new 40-ounce “Wicked Lahhhge” tumbler just in time for Memorial Day weekend, as announced in their May 20th press release. Inspired by the larger-than-life accent prevalent in New England, the “Wicked Lahhhge” tumbler is now available exclusively at select Dunkin’ locations nationwide.
The press release highlights the versatility of the new tumbler: “Go big or go home with 40 ounces of your favorite iced beverage — pour in a Dunkin’ Iced Coffee to fuel your early morning trips to the farmers market, or a Dunkin’ Refresher to keep you cool while sitting by the pool.”
At 40 ounces, the “Wicked Lahhhge” tumbler is larger than any single-serving beverage Dunkin’ currently sells. The largest iced drink cup is 32 ounces, while the extra-large hot drink cup holds 24 ounces.

The name of the new tumbler is a playful nod to the Boston accent, which is widely recognized throughout northern New England. According to the Dunkin’ website, the first Dunkin’ Donuts location opened in Quincy, Massachusetts, a city just south of Boston. The Boston accent, known for dropping the consonant “R” (a phenomenon called R-dropping or non-rhoticity), has its roots in the early English colonists and remains a distinctive feature of the region’s speech.
Voices.com, a website for voice actors, explains, “One of the most recognizable features of the Boston accent is the dropping of the consonant R, especially when it’s not followed by a vowel. This phenomenon, known as R-dropping or non-rhoticity, can be traced back to the early English colonists and has persisted in the region, making the Boston accent stand out among other American accents.”
The term “wicked” is a well-known Boston slang term equivalent to “very.” As Boston.com notes, while the exact origins of this usage are unclear, it remains a popular part of local vernacular.

This is not the first time Dunkin’ has played with the sizing of its beverages in a promotion. In March, the company briefly renamed its “small” iced coffee as a “Short King.” The term “Short King” refers to a man under 5 feet 8 inches tall and has become popular on the internet. Dunkin’s app description for the menu item reads, “Because sometimes you don’t need a large or even a medium, you just need a Short King.”
With the introduction of the “Wicked Lahhhge” tumbler, Dunkin’ continues to celebrate its New England roots while offering customers a larger-than-life way to enjoy their favorite beverages. Whether fueling a busy day or cooling off poolside, the new 40-ounce tumbler ensures you have plenty of Dunkin’ to get you through.
