With deep sadness, fans are saying goodbye to former Smash Mouth frontman Steve Harwell.

The singer, who has been battling alcohol addiction and various health issues over the last decade, is reportedly on his deathbed receiving hospice care near his home.

TMZ reported that Harwell was admitted to hospice care due to advanced liver failure. He sadly passed away shortly after

Harwell’s health issues were first revealed in 2016 when he collapsed while performing in concert. Since then, he has been receiving treatment for both cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that affects how the heart pumps blood, and acute Wernicke’s encephalopathy, a condition that affects motor functions such as speech and memory.

Unfortunately, he has been unable to overcome his physical and mental health issues and officially retired from performing in 2021.

“To our loyal and amazing fans, thank you,” he said. “I’ve tried so hard to power through my physical and mental health issues and to play in front of you one last time, but I just wasn’t able to.”

The news of his condition has struck a chord with fans of the band, who have been filling social media timelines with tributes and memories of Harwell and Smash Mouth’s iconic hits.

Despite the sadness of the situation, it is uplifting to know that Harwell has touched so many people, and his legacy will live on in fans’ memories. We sincerely wish his family and fans well during this challenging time.
