Trump’s Crime Strategy Gains Political Momentum

It’s official: the Democrats have walked right into Trump’s trap — again — and this time, the stakes are much higher than a spicy tweet or a red MAGA hat.

We’re talking about crime. Chaos. And the collapse of basic law and order in America’s so-called “sanctuary cities.”

FOX News’ Brit Hume said the quiet part out loud on Monday. Sitting across from Bret Baier during a segment on Special Report, Hume calmly — and almost gleefully — pointed out what anyone with half a brain has noticed for months now: Trump set the bait, and the Democrats couldn’t resist biting. Hard.

“People want to feel safe,” Hume said, as if it were some radical concept. And yet, somehow, that very idea — safety, security, law enforcement doing its job — is considered controversial in today’s Democratic Party.

Enter Operation Midway Blitz. Trump’s latest move in the escalating battle over illegal immigration, crime, and who really runs the streets of America. This time, the spotlight’s on Chicago — a city that’s become the poster child for progressive dysfunction, thanks in no small part to its sanctuary status and a revolving door of soft-on-crime policies.

The Trump administration has had enough. After cracking down in D.C. and L.A., the administration rolled out the red carpet for federal immigration authorities in Illinois, even calling on Naval Station Great Lakes to support logistics. You know it’s bad when the feds have to call in the Navy to handle what city officials won’t.

And what do Democrats do?

They panic.

Governor Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson are screaming into every microphone they can find. Johnson, in particular, is throwing lawsuits like confetti, signing executive orders to block federal agents, and running a full-blown media campaign to stop the enforcement of federal law — all while the city’s residents are begging for order and some semblance of peace.

Let’s pause for a second and appreciate the absurdity: The president of the United States is using federal resources to enforce existing immigration law — and local Democrats are suing to stop him. In any other era, this would’ve been political suicide. But not in 2025, where up is down, the border is “secure,” and “law and order” is somehow a dog whistle.

The trap is working exactly as intended.

Trump didn’t just send in ICE agents and call it a day. He knew the moment sanctuary city leaders resisted — the moment they openly defended criminal protectionism under the banner of “equity” — he’d win the narrative. The average voter doesn’t want theoretical justice. They want their kids to walk to school without stepping over needles. They want to ride the subway without being mugged. They want to know their neighborhoods won’t turn into open-air camps littered with crime and chaos.

And now, with Democrats openly fighting against federal enforcement, against cleanup efforts, and against the basic restoration of safety — they’ve cast themselves as the party of lawlessness.

Voters are watching.

Trump’s not just enforcing policy — he’s forcing a choice: chaos or control. Border security or broken windows. You don’t need a pollster to tell you how that one’s going to land in November.

Democrats thought they could ride the sanctuary wave forever. They thought the media would shield them from blowback. But Operation Midway Blitz has changed the game.

And if Pritzker, Johnson, and the rest of the progressive squad in charge want to keep defending sanctuary chaos, let them. Because the only thing they’re securing now… is Republican’s winning again.
