Traffic was backed up for miles on Monday when a windmill turbine blade broke loose and crossed the median on a Maryland interstate.
The incident happened just after 5 a.m. on Interstate 70 near Interstate 81, according to myfox8. Maryland State Police (MSP) responded to a tractor-trailer accident on I-70 West where a windmill blade that was being hauled became loose.
Part of the blade went across the median and blocked traffic. Three lanes were blocked off on I-70 east; four lanes were also closed on I-70 west.
BREAKING: I have worked in traffic for 20+ years… I have seen A LOT of stuff. I have NEVER seen this.

Crews moved the blade and took it to a wide shoulder area of the highway, per DCNewsNow.
One person, a member of the crew on the scene, was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to truck driver Steh Stanley, the incident was the talk of his trucking group chat that morning.
“I didn’t know what it was at first; that thing was huge when I saw it go by,” Stanley said. “They were sending pictures and said it was an accident or something.”
