After their relationship turned from mutual admiration to a public feud, Trump is now offering a surprising twist: possible reconciliation with Elon Musk.
Pressed by the New York Post’s “Pod Force One” about the possibility of patching things up with Musk, Trump said, “I guess I could,” before quickly pivoting. The real priority, he stressed, is not Musk, but the nation itself.
“We have to straighten out the country,” Trump said. “And my sole function now is getting this country back to a level higher than it’s ever been.”

Trump also did not mask his displeasure over Musk’s recent public criticisms — particularly surrounding the tax and spending bill passed by the House.
“When he did that, I was not a happy camper,” the president said.
When asked about Musk’s alleged drug use on the 2024 campaign trail, the president responded, “I don’t know what his problem is, really.”
Meanwhile, Musk has extended something of an olive branch.
He admitted that their feud “went too far,” hinting at a desire to de-escalate.
“I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week,” Musk wrote on X early Wednesday morning. “They went too far.”

But for Trump, forgiveness is not a priority — it’s a side issue in the broader crusade to, as he frames it, rescue America.
