Actor Dennis Quaid has become the latest high-profile celebrity to endorse reality television personality Spencer Pratt in the increasingly competitive Los Angeles mayoral race.
Quaid, who was directly affected by the devastating Palisades Fire, voiced his support for Pratt during a May 23 interview with Fox News while attending the 2nd Annual Military & Veteran Entertainment Awards Gala. When asked about the upcoming mayoral contest, the veteran actor did not hesitate to make his preference clear.
“Mayor race? Spencer Pratt. Go Spencer Pratt!” Quaid told the outlet with a smile.
The endorsement adds another recognizable name to a growing list of entertainers and public figures backing Pratt’s campaign as he attempts to unseat incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and other challengers in the race.
Quaid has been an outspoken critic of Bass in the aftermath of the wildfire crisis that impacted parts of Los Angeles earlier this year. Like many residents frustrated by the city’s response, the actor has questioned leadership decisions made during the emergency, including Bass’ trip to Ghana while the wildfire situation was unfolding.
During the interview, Fox News asked Quaid why he felt so strongly about supporting Pratt’s candidacy. The actor appeared surprised by the question and suggested the answer should be obvious to anyone familiar with the city’s current challenges.
“Why?” Quaid responded.
“What are you talking about? Why?”
He then gestured toward the broader situation facing Los Angeles.
“Just look around, man. Why?” he added while laughing.

Although Quaid did not elaborate further on specific policy issues, his comments reflected a sentiment shared by many of Pratt’s supporters, who argue that Los Angeles needs a new direction on issues such as public safety, homelessness, disaster preparedness and the cost of living.
Pratt has attracted an unusually large coalition of celebrity supporters since launching his campaign. According to Fox News, several prominent figures have publicly endorsed him, including Paris Hilton, Joe Rogan, James Woods, Jamie Kennedy, Billy Bush, James Foster, Katharine McPhee and Joanna Krupa.
Radio personality and comedian Adam Carolla has also backed Pratt’s candidacy. In addition, several of Pratt’s former castmates from MTV’s reality television series “The Hills” have thrown their support behind him, including Kristin Cavallari, Brody Jenner and Audrina Patridge.
The campaign has also received financial support from notable Los Angeles figures. Fox News reported that Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss contributed the maximum amount allowed under campaign finance rules to Pratt’s mayoral effort.
Recent polling suggests the race remains highly competitive. According to a Los Angeles Times report published May 28, Bass leads likely voters with 26% support. Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman follows closely with 25%, while Pratt sits just behind at 22%.
With only a few percentage points separating the leading candidates, endorsements from well-known figures such as Quaid could help bring additional attention to Pratt’s campaign as voters prepare to cast their ballots. The race has emerged as one of the most closely watched local elections in the country, with issues ranging from wildfire response to homelessness and public safety dominating the conversation among Los Angeles residents.
