Well, here we go again—Donald J. Trump drops another truth bomb on Truth Social and, predictably, the media is clutching its pearls. This time? He’s calling for the resurrection of America’s most infamous slammer: Alcatraz. That’s right, folks. The big guy says it’s time to REBUILD and REOPEN the Rock to house what he aptly described as “the dregs of society”—those violent, repeat criminals we’ve all watched get coddled by a justice system that seems more concerned with pronouns than prison time.
President Trump just called for the notorious Alcatraz prison to be restored and reopened.
He wants it to be reopened to house the most dangerous criminals in our country so that they literally cannot return to polite society to harm anyone ever again unless they swim through… pic.twitter.com/tV5GZNE5ml

Cue the meltdown from coastal elites.
Let’s be real: we live in a country where smashing a Walgreens window gets you a slap on the wrist—if that—and where city officials are more likely to rename a street for a career criminal than to protect a law-abiding taxpayer. Meanwhile, families in cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and New York are being told that rising crime is a “right-wing talking point.” Oh, really? Tell that to the mom who can’t take her kid to the park without stepping over a used needle. Tell it to the shopkeeper who’s had to board up for the third time this year. But sure—Trump’s the radical one for wanting to take violent criminals off the streets and park them on a rock in the middle of shark-infested waters.
What a concept.
The irony is almost too much: Democrats shriek about January 6 while simultaneously turning a blind eye to daily violence that’s turning our cities into third-world crime zones. But Trump is saying what a whole lot of Americans are thinking: enough is enough. If you’re too dangerous to be part of civilized society, then maybe—just maybe—you don’t get to roam around free, racking up a rap sheet that looks like a CVS receipt.
Of course, the usual suspects are already throwing fits. “It’s inhumane,” they cry. “We should be rehabilitating these people, not locking them away!” Sure, because that strategy has worked so well. Just take a stroll through the Tenderloin district and let me know how the rehab experiment is going. Spoiler alert: it’s not.
Trump’s vision to bring back Alcatraz isn’t just about nostalgia. It’s about making a point. It’s about restoring a culture of accountability. And yes, it’s a symbolic middle finger to the system that’s allowed progressive DAs and soft-on-crime judges to turn the justice system into a revolving door for felons. You think the average carjacker is shaking in his boots at the thought of a three-month stint and early release? Probably not. But the thought of being shipped off to a desolate island fortress that used to house the likes of Al Capone and Machine Gun Kelly? That might just hit a little different.
The original Alcatraz was built for a different America—a more serious one. A country that didn’t apologize for locking up people who were a threat to their neighbors. And yes, a country that knew the difference between justice and weakness. Trump wants that country back. And frankly, a whole lot of Americans are ready to pack up the court-appointed sympathy parade and bring back some good old-fashioned consequences.
So let the pundits cry and the activists rage. Trump’s onto something, and everyone knows it. The Left gave us sanctuary cities. Trump? He’s offering us sanctuary from criminals. And if that sanctuary happens to be a rebuilt, reinforced fortress in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, then so be it.
Hey, maybe they can even sell tickets.
