Well, that didn’t take long. Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett threw out a challenge, and the internet—specifically the GOP—was more than happy to take her up on it. The result? Let’s just say, it wasn’t her finest moment. In fact, it might be the most spectacular political self-own we’ve seen since… well, the last time a Democrat dared conservatives to “find evidence.”
Crockett, who just launched her Senate campaign in Texas (bless her heart), decided to kick things off with a bold claim during an interview on The Breakfast Club—yes, that Breakfast Club, the one where political discourse goes to die. With all the confidence in the world and zero awareness of her party’s greatest hits, Crockett smugly challenged anyone to find a clip of a Democrat “invoking violence.”
Seriously.
“I challenge somebody to go and find a clip of a Democrat invoking violence,” she said at the 7:12 mark. And somewhere, the GOP social media team cracked their knuckles and got to work.
What followed was a short, devastating highlight reel posted to X (formerly Twitter), and it was brutal. From top Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries declaring, “We are going to fight it in the streets,” to Rep. Ayanna Pressley flat-out saying, “There needs to be unrest in the streets,” the compilation left little room for interpretation. Add to that Eric Swalwell talking about burying opponents “below the Capitol,” and California’s own Gavin Newsom threatening to “punch [people] in the mouth,” and you’ve got a bingo card full of aggressive, hostile rhetoric from—you guessed it—the left.
And yes, Crockett herself makes several cameos in the video, just to really drive the point home. In one clip, she says, “I think you punch. I think you’re okay. You okay with punching.” In another, she promises, “We are not only going to punch you back, but we are going to knock you out… we about to beat you down.” Not exactly “Kumbaya” politics, is it?
Now let’s be clear: words matter. Democrats have spent years lecturing the rest of the country about tone, civility, and “lowering the temperature.” They’ve pointed fingers at Republicans every time someone sneezes in the wrong direction and called it “dangerous rhetoric.” But when one of their own says something blatantly aggressive or hostile? It’s suddenly “passion,” or “taking a stand,” or better yet, “just a figure of speech.”

But Crockett’s challenge didn’t just expose double standards—it showed just how disconnected some Democrats are from their own record. Did she forget what happened in 2020? Did she sleep through the months of riots, property damage, and attacks on law enforcement that many Democrats either ignored, excused, or outright encouraged?
And let’s not overlook the timing. This all comes just weeks after the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, a tragedy that should have sparked some self-reflection on political rhetoric from both sides. Instead, Crockett was out making punchline politics—literally—and daring others to call her out. So they did.
This isn’t just another social media gaffe. It’s a reminder that some of the loudest voices calling for “unity” have been the first in line to cheer when political opponents get shouted down, harassed, or worse.
Crockett may have thought her challenge was clever, but in doing so, she handed the GOP a silver platter full of receipts. And while her campaign might try to spin this as “taken out of context” or “just talk,” the footage—and the American people—say otherwise.
This wasn’t just embarrassing. It was revealing. And voters in Texas—and across the country—should be paying close attention.
