Landon Lowrance, 22, shot his girlfriend CloeRae McBrayer, 21, to death while playing with a revolver, then killed himself, police confirmed. The Fairbanks Police Department stated Lowrance “shot McBrayer with a revolver while playing with the gun and pointing it at her,” per a New York Post report. This double death happened last Wednesday, just days before the couple planned to get engaged. Police found McBrayer deceased upon reaching the scene.
A friend of Lowrance called 911 and stayed on the line while officers responded. According to The New York Post, a disturbance was audible in the background while the friend tried to stop Lowrance during the call. The department said the friend “attempted to physically intervene when Lowrance obtained another firearm and shot himself,” according to the report. Lowrance was taken to the hospital but later died there.

McBrayer was a bright young woman studying to become a teacher at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
