Democrat Expresses Concerns at Summer Meeting

The Democratic Party gathered this week for its big summer meetings, and let’s just say things aren’t off to a good start. Before the coffee even cooled, a former Democrat strategist had already thrown in the towel — on live television, no less.

Dan Turrentine, once a party insider, showed up on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle Monday night and delivered the kind of brutal honesty that doesn’t usually escape Democratic headquarters. His assessment? The party is on repeat, doing the same tired routines that have left millions of voters walking away.

“It’s the definition of insanity: you just keep doing the same thing over and over again. And as a Democrat, it’s maddening that we’re still not serious,” Turrentine said, clearly fed up. He wasn’t talking about losing a handful of voters, either. He pointed out that 4.5 million voters have already abandoned ship, and that the Democratic “brand” is sitting at historic lows.

The reason? According to him, Democrats don’t actually stand for anything. They’re “culturally disconnected” and “have absolutely no agenda.”

But it didn’t stop there. Turrentine contrasted Trump with his old party, arguing that while the former president is focused on solving problems, Democrats stick to what he calls the “three P’s”: personal attacks, process arguments, and the press.

It’s a cycle we’ve all seen before. Trump proposes action. Democrats call him a dictator. Trump follows through. Democrats complain about “norms.” Then they wait for the press to pile on. Repeat.

And right on cue, the Democratic National Committee proved his point.

At the start of the summer meeting, DNC Chairman Ken Martin kicked things off with — you guessed it — a land acknowledgment. After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, Martin handed the microphone to a party treasurer to honor the Saginaw Ojibwe Nation for the land where the meeting took place. That might play well in certain activist circles, but does anyone really think it’s the kind of thing that wins over voters in Pennsylvania or Michigan?

Martin followed up by blasting Trump as an authoritarian, warning Democrats that a “storm is coming” and painting America as a country in crisis under Republican leadership. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz — the same Tim Walz who flamed out as a vice-presidential candidate — piled on with his own rant, mocking Republican voters as brainless followers in red hats.

“Think of how easy it would be to be a damn Republican,” Walz said, sneering. “What should I wear today? This stupid, frickin’ red hat. What should I say today? I don’t know, just make sure it’s cruel.” He even mocked flag-waving, claiming Trump wants to “burn flags” because too many of them feature his face.

It was the perfect snapshot of exactly what Turrentine had warned about: Democrats focused on insults, theatrics, and culture-war symbolism while ignoring the real issues dragging them down.

Meanwhile, voters are still worried about crime, inflation, border chaos, and global instability. And when they look to the Democratic Party for answers, they see a leadership team more concerned about word choice and land acknowledgments than fixing what’s broken.

Dems…they don’t care:

The question hanging in the air after this week’s spectacle is simple: How long will Democratic voters put up with it? Because if their own strategists are already walking out the door, what happens when more of the base decides to follow?
