A woman from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has been reported missing in Madrid, Spain, by her friends and family. Ana Maria Knezevic, 40 years old and originally from Colombia, was last seen on February 2nd in the Salamanca quarter of Madrid. Her friend and neighbor in Florida, Sanna Rameau, is convinced that she was taken against her will.

Knezevic and Rameau shared a love for traveling, and the two had plans to meet up in Madrid shortly after Knezevic disappeared. Rameau became worried after receiving some strange messages from her friend. Knezevic told Rameau that she had met someone wonderful and was going to spend a few days at his summer house, but Rameau found these messages odd, as Knezevic had not mentioned anything about meeting a man when they had spoken the day before. Knezevic also sent a poorly translated message in Spanish to other friends, which Rameau found suspicious because Knezevic is fluent in both Spanish and English.

Neighbors reported seeing Knezevic outside her Madrid apartment on the evening of February 2nd, but no one has seen or heard from her since. Knezevic’s husband, David, was in Serbia at the time of her disappearance and is cooperating with law enforcement. According to his lawyer, David and Ana were going through an amicable divorce and were even considering hiring the same lawyer to represent them.

However, Juan Carlos Henao, Knezevic’s brother, believes something more sinister may have happened. He contacted police to share information about the couple’s divorce, saying that there was a “substantial amount of money on the line.” Henao also stated that he had not been able to get in touch with David and that he seemed to be out of the country.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is not investigating Knezevic’s disappearance as she was reported missing abroad. Spain’s Missing Persons Association has posted missing person fliers with her photo all over Madrid, but so far, there have been no leads. The Madrid Municipal Police did not respond to inquiries about the case.

Knezevic and her husband ran an IT company together in Florida and were also interested in real estate. Her friends and family describe her as a successful and well-respected individual. Her disappearance has left them worried and searching for answers.

Amidst all the questions and uncertainties, one thing is clear – Ana Maria Knezevic has not been found, and her loved ones are hoping for her safe return. As the investigation continues, the community is urged to come forward with any information that may lead to the whereabouts of this missing woman.
