A new lawsuit has been filed against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by the attorneys of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden. This morning, the filing implies that the allegations revolve around the IRS and its agents, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.
“This suit against the IRS is just another frivolous smear by Biden family attorneys trying to turn people’s attention away from Hunter Biden’s own legal problems and intimidate any current and future whistleblower,” Shapley‘s attorneys wrote.
“The federal judge in Delaware who oversaw the aborted plea deal shot down similar claims against the whistleblowers after they exposed the secret backroom deal between Hunter Biden and the Department of Justice. Neither IRS SSA Gary Shapley nor his attorneys have ever released any confidential taxpayer information except through whistleblower disclosures authorized by statute. Once Congress released that testimony, like every American citizen, he has a right to discuss that public information.”
With Biden’s legal team leading the charge, they assert that the pair of IRS agents have sought to embarrass Biden by conducting an unfair investigation and making unauthorized public disclosures.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers allege that the two IRS agents have exhibited unfair behavior, such as targeting and ruining Biden’s reputation through public statements and violating his rights as a citizen.
This lawsuit calls for a court to formally decide whether or not the IRS unlawfully revealed confidential information, demanding $1,000 in compensation for each violation.
The IRS has yet to comment on the legal proceedings. However, Shapley’s legal representatives have addressed the situation with a statement. The lawyers claimed this case was simply a tactic to deter other whistleblowers.
Similarly, they refer to a previous case in Delaware that shed light on the backroom deal between the Department of Justice and the Biden family, which a federal judge refused.
Ultimately, it is uncertain how this lawsuit may unfold and whether or not the Biden camp will be victorious. Nevertheless, the stakes are high.
With the IRS accused of mishandling aspects of its investigation and potential unauthorized disclosures, this case will surface key conversations surrounding the privacy and rights of citizens.
Paying attention to any developments in this ongoing case will be crucial, as a favorable outcome could set a precedent for similar lawsuits.
