A historic trial in Michigan has reached a verdict, as the mother of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley has been found guilty of four counts of involuntary manslaughter. Jennifer Crumbley, along with her husband James, were charged in connection with the tragic shooting that took place in November of 2021, leaving four students dead and seven others injured.

Despite the defense’s argument that Jennifer did not know her son was planning a school shooting, the prosecution maintained that she could have prevented it. They argued that she could have stopped Ethan when she arrived at the school that day and found out about his disturbing notes.

Prosecutors also pointed out that after the shooting occurred, the Crumbleys fled the town of Oxford and headed to Detroit. They were eventually apprehended by U.S. Marshals, adding to the prosecution’s argument that they were trying to evade responsibility for their son’s actions.
