The community of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is in mourning following the sudden death of Mica Miller, the wife of a local pastor.
The 30-year-old woman was found dead on April 27 in a state park about an hour away from her hometown. As the investigation into her death continues, the Robeson County Medical Examiner has revealed that Miller died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The medical examiner, Dr. Richard Johnson, stated that based on the nature of the wound, it is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot. This information comes amidst speculation and rumors about the cause of Miller’s death. The sheriff’s office has also confirmed the findings of the medical examiner and has scheduled a meeting with Miller’s family to provide more details.
Miller’s husband and pastor of their church, John-Paul Miller, had initially announced to their congregation that his wife had died by suicide and had struggled with mental health issues for years.
However, new reports from the Horry County Sheriff’s Office reveal that Miller had filed multiple reports of harassment and had expressed fear for her life in the days leading up to her death.
According to the reports, Miller had reported finding a razor blade in her tire multiple times and had also noticed strange activity and believed she was being followed. The suspect, who remains unidentified, had a history of similar actions toward Miller. However, there was not enough evidence to prove that he was responsible for the incidents.
Following Miller’s death, her loved ones have been sharing posts on social media with the hashtag “JusticeforMica.” Her sister also took to social media to plead with friends to not listen to false stories being spread about the circumstances of her sister’s death.
The couple’s church, Solid Rock Church, has announced that John-Paul Miller will be taking a step back from his ministerial duties for a time of healing, counseling, and guidance. The church’s website has also been suspended. The local community has been left in shock and is grieving the loss of a beloved member of their community.
