Three people were stabbed Tuesday afternoon at a crowded Rhode Island beach as hundreds of teenagers packed the shoreline, triggering panic among beachgoers and a heavy police response.

The violence unfolded at Narragansett Town Beach, where officers responded to reports of disturbances and large crowds gathering in the area. According to the Narragansett Police Department, three unidentified individuals suffered minor stab wounds during the incident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities said the beach quickly descended into chaos as large groups attempted to leave the area at the same time, following the stabbings. Additional disturbances reportedly broke out as police worked to regain control of the scene.

No suspects have been identified in connection with the stabbing attack, and no arrests related to the incident had been announced as of Tuesday night.

Photos released by police showed an enormous crowd gathered along the beach and boardwalk area before the violence erupted. Officials said multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist with crowd control and public safety efforts.

While investigators continue searching for those responsible for the stabbings, police confirmed that two separate arrests were made during the unrest. Two unidentified adults were charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, and obstruction of justice. Authorities noted those arrests do not appear to be connected to the stabbing incident itself.

The beach violence comes as cities across the country continue dealing with a rise in large teen gatherings and chaotic public disturbances. In recent months, law enforcement agencies have responded to multiple incidents involving fights, vandalism, and assaults tied to massive groups of teenagers converging on public spaces.

Over the weekend, a violent brawl involving teenagers broke out inside a Chipotle restaurant in Washington, D.C. Video from the scene showed several teens throwing punches, shoving each other, and hurling chairs and other furniture across the restaurant while customers attempted to take cover.

The altercation occurred despite ongoing efforts by D.C. officials to crack down on juvenile crime and disruptive teen gatherings in parts of the city. Authorities have previously established juvenile curfew zones in response to repeated incidents involving large crowds of young people.

Similar incidents have also surfaced in other cities. In Tampa, Florida, police recently arrested nearly two dozen individuals during what officials described as a “teen takeover” event that spiraled out of control.

The latest violence in Rhode Island has renewed concerns among residents and local officials about crowd management and public safety as schools let out for summer and large groups of teenagers gather at beaches, shopping centers, and entertainment districts.

Narragansett police have not yet released details about what may have led to the stabbings or whether the victims were specifically targeted. Investigators are asking anyone with information or video footage from the beach on Tuesday afternoon to contact authorities.

Officials have also not said whether additional security measures or restrictions could be implemented at the popular beach destination following the incident.
