President Donald Trump barred CNN, MS Now, and Politico from entering the White House. He cited their coverage as “FAKE NEWS” in a Truth Social post. The outlets lost access to the grounds on Saturday and filed a lawsuit Monday. Trump posted a new video on Truth Social just after midnight on Wednesday.
The video parodies a typical day for a CNN reporter. “My life as someone who tells lies all day long” appears as the opening line. The caption reads, “Day in the Life of a CNN reporter.”First, I get up, then I put on my fake news outfit, the narrator declares.
The clip ends with the character ready to spread rumors. He claims, “I just can’t wait to make up a bunch of false rumors about Trump today.” Comedian Patrick Cutler created the video and posted it to Instagram on Tuesday. Trump shared it on his own platform less than a day later.
The original creator of the video, Cutler, plays a character based on Napoleon Dynamite. The video shows the reporter in a blonde wig walking out the door. Cutler posted the final line, “Alright, let’s go bash Trump 24/7, here we go!” The Washington Examiner reported that Trump reached out to Cutler for comment.
The Legal Battle Ahead
A federal judge will hear the case in Washington, D.C. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly will decide if the ban should stay in place. The judge is an appointee of President Trump himself.
The three news outlets argue the ban violates the First Amendment. They say their reporters were blocked and their access badges were disabled. Trump has argued that access is a privilege, not a right. He claims inaccurate reporting can create national security concerns.
The administration says the president can choose who enters secure spaces. They note that the White House has discretion over who travels on Air Force One. However, the legal question centers on viewpoint discrimination. The outlets claim the ban happened because officials disliked their reporting.
This case looks similar to a dispute with the Associated Press last year. Judge Trevor McFadden decided that viewpoint-based exclusion of journalists by the White House is not permissible. They issued a joint statement on Monday to show solidarity with the banned outlets.

The White House announced a new channel called Trump TV during this rift. Content can stream 24/7 from a phone or TV. Users are guided by the post to the White House YouTube page. The White House TV pool also announced it is standing in solidarity with the outlets. They will boycott any broadcast coverage of Trump until the issue is resolved.
