Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are reportedly frustrated after a $3 million lawsuit was filed against Pinkett Smith.

According to PEOPLE, the complaint, brought by Bilaal Salaam, also known as Brother Bilaal, alleges that the actress threatened him over private matters in September 2021 at the Regency Calabasas Commons.

The lawsuit alleges that Pinkett Smith confronted Salaam and warned that if he continued “telling her personal business,” he could “end up missing or catch a bullet.”

The complaint also claims she demanded he sign a nondisclosure agreement and followed him to his car while issuing further threats. Salaam later said he faced a “retaliatory campaign” from the Smiths’ circle after giving a viral interview in 2023.

“They are really mad and say it’s a lot of crap,” an entertainment insider said, labeling Salaam “an opportunistic person out to exploit them.”

The source added that the couple views the suit as “a money ploy to get what they can out of them” and noted that both Smith and Pinkett Smith dislike people sharing private details about their lives publicly.

Salaam had previously alleged in a 2023 sit-down with Unwine With Tasha K that he walked in on Will Smith with actor Duane Martin in a sexual act.

Pinkett Smith dismissed the claims in a later interview with The Breakfast Club, calling them “nonsense.”

The new lawsuit also revolves around intentional infliction of emotional distress, citing comments Pinkett Smith made during interviews suggesting Salaam was attempting to “shake down” the couple.

“Bilaal has been close to Will for many years, but sometime along the way became a blabbermouth, which has upset both Will and Jada,” another source said. “Like any other high-profile people, they don’t want to hear about their lives in the public arena. Especially in a controversial way.”

The source added, “The $3 million lawsuit was tailored to produce some money to make it go away.”

Pinkett Smith, 54, has been married to Smith since 1997, though she revealed in 2023 that they had been separated for seven years. Together, they are parents to Jaden, 27, and Willow, 25, while Smith also shares a son, Trey, 33, with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
