Gavin Newsom Responds to Redistricting Question

Oh, how the tables have turned.

Remember when Texas Democrats made national headlines by fleeing the state—yes, literally running away—to block a Republican redistricting plan? They were hailed as heroes by their favorite networks and liberal pundits, all for skipping out on their jobs like high schoolers ditching algebra. Now, the political stunt that earned them fleeting applause might just come back to haunt them. Because Governor Greg Abbott isn’t playing.

Abbott has taken steps to remove these absentee lawmakers, and the Texas Supreme Court has now demanded that Democrat Gene Wu—one of the loudest cheerleaders for the walkout—respond to Abbott’s actions. Suddenly, the same Democrats who ran from their responsibilities are being called back to answer for it. Accountability? What a concept.

And while all this plays out, what’s not getting done in Texas? Flood response, infrastructure projects, actual legislative work—the stuff that, you know, voters probably expected them to do when they were elected. But priorities, right?

Meanwhile, the left’s gerrymandering outrage circus is running at full tilt. They’re practically foaming at the mouth over the idea that Texas might—gasp—redistrict in a way that favors Republicans. The horror! As if they haven’t been doing the exact same thing in blue states for decades. You can’t make this stuff up.

Enter Gavin Newsom, the man who somehow manages to combine arrogance, bad math, and political ambition into one perfectly coiffed package. In a desperate attempt to virtue-signal his way into relevance, he fired off a post on X (Twitter, for the pre-rebrand crowd) listing “Red states with ZERO Dem house seats” and those with “just ONE.”

Only… there’s a tiny issue. Several of the states Newsom whined about only have one House district. You can’t gerrymander a state that doesn’t have lines to draw, Gavin. It’s basic civics, but that might be asking too much from the man who turned California into a crime-ridden, tax-heavy exodus machine.

North Dakota? One district. South Dakota? One. Alaska, Wyoming? Same deal. And yet Newsom includes them in his anti-gerrymandering sob story. It’s like complaining your goldfish didn’t bark at the intruder. Makes zero sense.

Naturally, the internet did what it does best—mocked him. Deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson summed it up in disbelief. Scott Jennings, conservative commentator and radio host, just laughed and gave Newsom the rhetorical pat on the head he deserved. Please, Governor Newsom, won’t someone think of the children in Wyoming’s one district?

And if you think this is all just an innocent mistake, think again. Newsom’s not just blundering—he’s threatening. He’s publicly mulling “retaliatory” moves in California if Texas moves forward with its redistricting. That’s right, the governor of a state drowning in fentanyl, homeless encampments, and skyrocketing utility costs is focused on punishing Texas. Priorities, again.

It’s almost like they don’t even try to hide the hypocrisy anymore. The left screams about democracy while celebrating their own partisan map-drawing. They decry political games while playing the most cynical ones imaginable. And they claim to fight for the people, as long as those people vote blue.

Oh, and let’s not forget—the guy who can’t understand how congressional districts work might actually run for president. Imagine the debates. Imagine the press conferences. Imagine the campaign ads that basically write themselves. If Joe Biden is the current face of Democrat decline, Gavin Newsom might just be its next chapter.

So yeah, keep your popcorn handy. The meltdown over redistricting is far from over, and it’s only getting messier.
