Members of the House of Representatives are not used to being told no.

But that is exactly what happened when 30 House Democrats tried to enter the Department of Education building in Washington, D.C.

According to Fox News, the contingent was there to meet with acting Education Secretary Denise L. Carter. Instead, they were stopped by security.

A federal employee, who stopped them at the door, did not say why they were not allowed in the building.

The man was confronted by Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) who asked if he was doing so of his own volition or had been ordered to block the door.

The man merely responded he was doing his job.

The group said it had the right to enter the building and criticized the Trump administration for its “lack of transparency.”

President Donald Trump and his fellow Republicans want the Department of Education to be shuttered in favor of states leading education.

On Tuesday, Trump said if Linda McMahon — his pick for education secretary — is confirmed, she will work to “put herself out of a job.”

Ninety-six members of Congress wrote Carter a letter requesting a meeting, but no meeting had been scheduled.

Members of the group tried to gain entry, but the doors were locked, a source told Fox News.
