President Donald Trump’s coalition of supporters includes people from across the political and cultural spectrum — including one of hip-hop’s most recognizable names.
Rapper Waka Flocka Flame recently sat down for an interview with OutKick host Tomi Lahren, where he discussed politics, former Vice President Kamala Harris, President Trump, and why he believes many Americans misunderstand what political support actually means.
The conversation began with a discussion about backlash faced by celebrities who publicly express conservative views. Lahren pointed to rapper Nicki Minaj, who has drawn criticism from some fans and fellow artists following her appearances with President Trump and her public comments on issues affecting Christians in Nigeria.
Lahren noted that Minaj has been an influential figure in the music industry and suggested that some critics have attempted to marginalize her because of her political positions.
When the conversation turned to Trump, Waka Flocka made his views clear.
“I support him over Kamala Harris 100 percent,” the rapper said.
Asked why, Waka offered a straightforward answer.
“Because of her. He’s better, in my opinion,” he said.
The rapper compared the political choice to a sports debate, explaining that support for one person does not necessarily mean complete agreement with everything they do or say.
He likened it to preferring Kobe Bryant over LeBron James, arguing that people can have favorites without believing those individuals are perfect.
Waka was also careful to distinguish support from total loyalty.
“When people use the word support, that means you stand for everything one stands for, and that ain’t what it is,” he explained.
Lahren then asked whether he had voted for Trump.
His answer surprised many viewers.
“I never vote for nobody. Never in my life voted,” Waka responded.
The rapper said his perspective stems from his upbringing and a belief that the political system has often failed communities like the one he grew up in.
“Where I’m from, man, we call it the hood, the trenches, the ghetto. Votes don’t matter for people like us. They never did, and never will,” he said.
Although he expressed support for Trump over Harris, Waka emphasized that his admiration for the president is not rooted primarily in politics.
Instead, he credited Trump with influencing the way he approaches business and financial management.
“The only thing I learned from Trump was how to delegate my capital and how to structure my business,” he said.
When Lahren later asked whether he had been a fan of Harris, Waka did not hesitate.
“Hell no,” he replied.
Beyond politics, the interview also touched on a more personal topic: fatherhood.
Waka revealed that he is preparing to welcome his first biological son and reflected on the responsibility that comes with raising a child.
The rapper said the reality of becoming a father is beginning to sink in, though he admitted it still feels somewhat unreal.
“Another human is gonna be in the house and I got a strong responsibility,” he said.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the full weight of the moment likely will not hit him until his son arrives.
“Nothing is real to me till it’s real,” Waka added.
The interview offered a glimpse into the rapper’s views on politics, business, and family life, while also highlighting the growing number of public figures willing to speak openly about their political opinions despite the controversy that can sometimes follow.
