Iran Fires Missiles at U.S. Bases
Iran fired ballistic missiles at U.S. military bases in Jordan. This attack followed U.S. strikes on Iranian rocket launchers earlier that day. President Trump promised a direct and hard response to this aggression. The missiles were intercepted, and no impacts have been reported so far. A U.S. official told CNN that the attacks did not cause damage on the ground.
The strike on Jordanian soil came after Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces prepared to deploy sea mines. The U.S. had cleared the waterway of mines just last week. Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, said his forces are watching the area closely to safeguard the free flow of commerce through this essential waterway.
Trump spoke about the situation during a phone call with a Fox News reporter. He told the reporter, according to the Washington Examiner, “We’re going to hit them hard. There will be a response.” He also noted that nearly all the missiles fired at the base were stopped by American air defense systems.
President Calls Iran a Failed Nation
The President took to Truth Social to share his views on Iran’s current state. He declared that the country is officially a “Failed Nation.” He wrote, “Iran is officially a Failed Nation. IT IS DEAD!” Trump listed several reasons for this harsh judgment in his post. He claimed Iran has no Navy, no Air Force, and no currency to support its people.
He further stated that the leadership is in total disarray and cannot properly represent the country. Trump noted that inflation in Iran has reached 300 percent. He further noted that their soldiers and police officers are receiving no pay. The President also mentioned that over 100,000 protesters have died in recent unrest. According to him, these leaders should face trial for war crimes against humanity.
Iran also fired a drone toward the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Defense Ministry confirmed the drone was intercepted over its territorial waters. Tehran has launched strikes at U.S. bases and allies since the conflict began in February. Prior to this latest round of fighting, Iranian targets had not been hit by the U.S. since July 29.
Trump remarked that Iran desires to meet with the United States “so badly” at this moment. Nevertheless, he doubted whether Tehran could be trusted to finalize any deal. The administration has shifted its focus toward economic pressure on Tehran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced an “economic D-Day” last week. This plan threatens secondary sanctions against companies doing business with Iran.
